| Life isn't fair.
I've been a happy Telocity customer for the last 18 months or so, and have always recommended them to my friends and anyone else that asked about the best broadband solution for their home.
It was really easy to recommend Telocity. The stuff worked "right out of the box", and you didn't have to worry about any PPPoE nonsense. They even assigned a static IP address to boot.
But, it wasn't meant to be. DirecTV, the corporate sugar-daddy to DirecTVDSL pulled the plug. "The Market", it seemed, didn't look good to them. And on Friday, the 13th, they pulled the plug.
Well, almost. DirecTVDSL was responsible enough to give their subscribers a month to transition their broadband connectivity. Rather than to go with Charter Pipeline or Adelphia cablemodem (I've personally had really bad experiences with cablemodem providers), or to get stuck with PPPoE using SBC, I've decided to go to SpeakEasy.
They have a "hot swap" DirecTVDSL replacement program to switch customers over to the SpeakEasy network in a very short time, to avoid the traditional deprovision/reprovision process with which you could lose several days of broadband connectivity.
You can go directly to www.speakeasy.net and check out their offerings. Or, go to the referral page, and then click on the "DirecTV DSL customer" check box to get their DSL packages tailored to migrating DirecTVDSL customers.
